A unique representation of the Sega tradition of Mauritius /Reunion Islands in a fusion with European, Cuban , and Asan jazz in Singapore! This band is doing things with grooves that have not been done before, through a combination of unique musical characters within the Singapore scene, and under the musical direction of bass virtuoso Kersley Piron.
The band came about when Kersley, drummer Pablo Calzado and saxophonist Greg Lyons were discussing their shared passion for the Sega music that has spawned a unique identity for the Reunion Islands and Mauritius on the global stage, and of course an incredible jazz fusion scene on the islands themselves.
The repertoire mixes Piron’s originals and unique arrangements with gems from other jazz fusion artists around the world. The Band: Pablo Calzado on drums ; Kersley Piron on bass ; Tan Wei Xiang on piano ; Greg Lyons on saxophones.

Gotta share the epic jazz night I had catching my friend Kersley’s gig! Dim lights, cozy vibe – the whole joint was buzzing with excitement. Kersley, the greatest bassist for me, took the stage, and it was like magic.
The band was tight, you could feel the connection. Sax, keys, drums – they were on fire. And the best part? The unexpected twists and turns. SegaJazz, you know? One minute you’re nodding to a familiar tune, next thing you know, it’s a he got us in the crowd singing.
Can’t contain my excitement for the upcoming Segajazz gig on January 2024 at Jazzlof! This event is the real deal, and the buzz is building up.
